“I don’t know,” he said. “I mean, I feel like we’re supposed to meet the person we’re supposed to be with in college or before we’re 22, you know?”

“How did your parents meet?”

“They met at a bar.”

“So not in college?”

“No, they were 24 and 25 and they basically hate each other.”

“I’m sorry,” said Sara.

“Hopefully they get a divorce or something.”

“So, you just want to be friends?”

“Uh, yeah, we can be friends.”

“Okay.”

“I think you’re like really cool, and I like talking to you.”
